ODFC Cesena begins to look ahead with cautious optimism as it pins all hopes on a mix of young and experienced players for the 2021 season. Cesena USA General Manager of the Cesena USA WPSL team Andy Vera, reflected on the past 9 months, “the cancellation of the 2020 season was heartbreaking for all of us as we had a tremendous amount of positive energy coming into the new year…new/experienced staff and tremendous players ready to play. We now look ahead to 2021 with an even stronger sense of optimism and hope…”.

ODFC has confirmed that a new Head Coach has been hired but is not prepared to share the identity, yet.  “We have lots still to do as we just started preparing for next season” Mr. Vera explained, “I can tell you the individual we selected is strongly committed to providing opportunities to all our local young women…with tremendous energy and drive”.

The Cesena USA group will consist of what the club refers to a “60/40” player mix with 60% of the players joining the group being experienced college players. The remaining 40% will consist of strong young players from “high-level” high school programs in the area.

Team tryouts are scheduled for November 21st and 22nd at John Champe High School in Aldie, Virginia.

One thing is for certain, the future of the Cesena USA Program looks extremely bright!
