ODFC – ODSL Field Closure and Game Rescheduling Process
1. ODFC Field coordinators make the call to close our fields due to inclement weather - (Ken Kramer, Chris Campbell).
2. Field coordinators contact ODFC - ODSL rep (Sylvie Arendt).
3. ODFC - ODSL rep contacts the following:
* ODFC - ODSL Teams
* Referee Assignor - notifies of field closures
* ODSL Administrator - notifies of field closures and game numbers
4. ALL ODFC -ODSL Teams with HOME GAMES at closed fields contact Opposition Team Coaches/Managers immediately
5. Teams contact field coordinator to check on future field availability.
6. Teams contact opposition team coaches/managers to discuss/confirm rescheduled game date, time and location.
7. Teams notify ODFC - ODSL rep with rescheduled game time (preferably within 48hrs).
8. ODFC - ODSL rep notifies ODSL admin of rescheduled games for ODFC teams - MUST BE WITHIN 72 HRS or ODSL will reschedule for teams.
Some Key Points:
a) We do not follow Loudoun Soccer status - ODFC will call our field closures.
b) We are mandated by Loudoun PRCS – If they close ALL fields (rare case) then we have
to close.
c) We are NOT FREEDOM PARK, our Freedom Field is not governed by PRCS.
d) Most times Loudoun PRCS goes to Game time decision, which is when our folks kick in to assess status.
e) SAFETY is key, if our coordinator determines unsafe to play - no question, field CLOSED.
f) Assessment of whether field could be damaged by use is the second criteria; we do not want to force one game in at the cost of many more down the line. Our season is long with many games, so we need to insure we use best judgment to keep fields open.
g) If our coordinator believes field is safe and playable and will not be damaged by use, they can work to get field ready and give status as GO.
h) If field is closed, Home teams will be notified and they must contact their opponents.
